Making life more worthwhile.........

January 11, 2014

Sitting here enjoying life thinking of the special relationship I enjoy with the outdoors. I wish I could share how much fun I have hiking in our beautiful Northwest. Looking over my recent photos I realize maybe for some of you, house bound, you'd enjoy seeing the world through my eyes.
I can't import the sounds of the birds, the wind in the trees, the waves and the surf crashing against the shore. I can't import the smells of the rich fragrant woods and early smells fall and winter make getting ready for their winter nap. I can't fully show you the richness of the sun, peering through the clouds to light up the world in golden glows. I can't share the feel of the cold crisp air against my face, the sharp intake of sea air filling my lungs with so much, pure, sweet air.
I can share, photos of things that have caught my eye and heart and desire to ever remain etched in time as a moment when I joyed in the beauty of the world and the delight that I am still able to be a part of this wonderful creation.

I give you a gift, from my heart to yours, unknown readers, many I will never meet but kindred souls searching for beauty among the ashes.

Fort Stevens park has been one of my most favorite retreats for over twenty years. You can hike around a beautiful lake, Coffenbury Lake.  You can ride your bikes or hike miles, upon miles of paved trails through the woods. You can explore old military sites, walk along pure, sandy beaches on the Jetty side of the Columbia River. Hike for miles on quiet ocean beaches with birds most often your gentle companions.
